My son tells his sister "look you were inside mamma's tummy and then you came out here" and he made gesture using hands. I thought he has more understanding of the matter than what I think he has. After this, when I was alone with him, I brought the topic again. I asked him if he know how fruits grow on the tree (there is a reference to one conversation in the last week). He explained the pollination, here onwards our dialogue happened like this - Me: what happens in the pollination that results in a fruit? Son: explained about honeybees extracting nectar etc. Me: you know, there are two types of flowers .. male and female. One particle from male flower os required in the fruit flower to bear a fruit. And honeybees do that particle transfer. This is pollination. Son: ohhh. Then, how does pollination occur in animals? And his wild idea: Do mosquitos when bite human beings or animals cause such transfer of particle? Me: Noo. There is reproduction process in all animals which make this happen. And human being is an animal so this is applicable for us as well. This is known as sex. Son: Ok. Me: Did you know this word already? Son: Yes, but I didn't know this is behind it. Then he explained how once one boy uttered this word loudly and his teacher came running!! Me: so, now you know it. And we have spoken about it. If you have any questions about it, please don't hesitate to ask me. You may hear things from friends or read on internet. All won't be true. Before you can confirm your views and opinions you should speak to me or your father. You know going forward your school books will have lessons about all these things. You are growing and you will observe some changes in your body. Son: like what Me: let's see... What is that your father has and you don't yet? After seeing he was puzzled, I said "beard" :) Me: Do you want to talk or anything more? Son: No, not now. Overall just 7 or 8 minutes conversation but I think it was worth it. FYI: All this triggered from something he thought and laughed loudly after telling his sister how she came out from mamma's tummy. He said I can't share this thought else you would scold me. Even after having this conversation he hasn't shared it. I gave up after asking 2 3 times. This proved to be a good hint to trigger the dialogue and thus my assignment is done. March 14th 2021 Ishan is much improved version of himself than he was 2 years ago. Reading habit is doing good to him. Today anandi slept at 10 pm. I was browsing something on mobile when Ishan came inside the room. He said "मला नाही माहीत की रात्र झाल्यावरचं असे विचार का येतात माझ्या डोक्यात" मी : कसे विचार ईशान ईशान : what happens to us after we die... Etc. मी : अरे तुझा प्रश्न तर चांगलाच आहे, आणि एवढ्या लहान वयात तुला असा प्रश्न पडला हे दाखवतं की तू किती विचार करतोस आणि तुझी आकलनशक्ती किती आहे. पण खरं सांगू का अजून कुणालाच म्हणजे कुणालाच असं ठाऊक नाही की माणूस मेल्यावर काय होत. And why think about what you cant control. पण I liked your curiosity. ईशान: i am not curious but I am scared. What will happen to me when I die. (And his tone told me he was really scared). मी (आता खरच विचार करायला लागले की या मुलाला कसं समजावू): Ishan it is great that you are precisely able to state your problem. It is very important. I recalled what we read in Gita (by Roopa Pai) that we are born from the matter of universe and we got back to it after death. There was also a mention of stephen hawking in it. पंच महाभूते म्हणजे पृथ्वी, वायू, पाणी, सूर्यप्रकाश  आणि अग्नी. थोडक्यात मृत झाल्यावर माणूस पंच महाभूते यांच्यातच विलीन होतो म्हणजे एकरूप होतो। ईशान : म्हणजे do we become plant ? मी : झाड होतं का प्राणी हे नाही माहीत. (एवढयात आशिष रूम मध्ये आला, ईशान ने त्याला सांगितलं "बाबा तुम जाओ, हम private बांते कर राहे है" , काय करणार आशिष परत गेला ) ☺️ म्हणून आपले कर्तव्य आहे की आलेला दिवस चांगला घालवायचा, आपल्याकडे जे आहे त्याबद्दल कृतज्ञ राहायचे आणि देवाला नमस्कार करायचा सगळ्या गोष्टी आपल्या हातात नसतात, मग ज्या गोष्टी आपण ठरवू शकत नाही त्या बद्दल विचार करून कशाला काळजी करायची? उदाहरण द्यायचे झाले तर आपल्याला सगळ्यांना माहीत आहे की पृथ्वी वरचे पेट्रोल कधीना कधी तरी संपणार आहे. तरी आपण गाडी घेऊन खूप फिरतोय ना, बाबा 2 दा लडाख ला जाऊन आला, आपण कितीतरी ट्रिप वर जाऊन आलो. ईशान: पण that is different. Here i am scared what will I see when I die... There will be darkness all around...? I am not scared that I will die, I am scared of what will I feel ... मी : accha असं आहे तर. हे बघ जीवन म्हणजे चेतना ability to sense. Death is lack of चेतना. E.g हा बेड आहे बघ, याला जर उद्या दिवसभर उन्हात ठेवला तर याला काही कळेल का, काही त्रास होईल का ? ईशान : नाही मी : तसाच after death one doesnt feel anything bcoz there is no life. And as in harry potter death is pain less. अजून एक उदाहरण देते बघ, भिंतीवरचे पाल आहे, तिला तुझी किंवा माझी चाहूल लागली की ती पळते,  तिला किती कळतं ते आपल्याला माहीत नाही म्हणजे आनंदी आली की ईशान आला की त्याची आई /बाबा आले हे कळतं का माहीत नाही, पण इतकं नक्की कळतं की धोका आहे आता पळा. तसंच डासांचं आपण जवळ गेलो की उडून जातात म्हणजेच त्यांना काहीतरी जाणीव होत असणार. ही जाणीव म्हणजेच प्राण. Ani absense of this sense is death hence you dont need to worry about what happens after death. ईशान : hmm आता जरा बरं वाटत आहे। मी आता जाऊन झोपतो मी : मी येऊ का तुझ्या जवळ थोडा वेळ? एकटा झोपशील ना की भीती वाटत आहे? ईशान : नाही आता भीती नाही वाटत, goodnight! I hugged him and patted on the back. Such a thoughtful son I have!! Proud of you my boy.

Me : (surprised that he is ready to gift her something) kay? Ishan : diaper! !! 😝😝 Me : (I should still appreciate) very funny idea it is! But this year diaper will do! 😇

How to put babies to sleep

लहान बाळाला झोपवणे यासारखं दुसरं अवघड काही असु शकते असं मला कुणीतरी मी आई होण्याआधी सांगितले असते तर माझा कधीच विश्वास बसला नसता . पण २ मुलांना जन्म देऊन सांभाळ केल्यावर आता जर कुणी म्हणाले की बाळ खूपच रडते आणि अजिबात झोपत नाही तर माझ्या अनुभवाची मदत होईल म्हणून खालील सूचना १. बाळाचे पोट भरलेले असले तरच त्याला झोपवण्यात तुम्ही यशस्वी होऊ शकता २. बाळाने दूध पिल्यावर ढेकर दिलेला असला पाहिजे - त्याला खांद्यावर उभं घेऊन मानेपासून पाठीपर्यंत हात २-५ वेळेस फिरवला तर लगेच काम होते . ढेकर नाही दिल्यास पोटात गॅस होऊन बाळ रडू शकते ३. बाळ जागे होऊन आता बराच वेळ झाला आहे - साहजिक आहे ना , जर १० मिनिटापूर्वीच बाळ उठले असेल आणि झोप छान झाली असेल तर त्याला आता लगेच झोपवू शकत नाही ४. बाळाला गरम किंवा मानवेल इतपत हवा लागली पाहिजे . काही बाळ डोक्यावर अजिबात टोपी घालू देत नाही तेंव्हा त्याचा खूप आग्रह न केलेला बारा ५. बाळाला हलकेच मालिश किंवा मसाज केला तर झोप यायला मदत होऊ शकते (दिवसातून एकदाच बरं का ) ६. आता जी व्यक्ती झोपवत आहे तिच्यासाठी - तुम्ही आधी दीर्घ श्वास घ्या, आणि तुम्हाला बाळ झोपलं कि जे करायचे आहे ते आधी विसरून जा :) आता दीर्घ श्वास घ्या आणि मनात म्हणा "मी बाळाला अलगद छान छान झोपवणार आहे , आणि आमचं पिल्लू सुखी झोप घेणार आहे ". पुढची पायरी म्हणजे बाळाला सांगा "चला आता झोपूया , म्हणजे तू छान मोठा होशील ". आता एखादं गाणं किंवा rhythm music हळुवार आवाजात लावून / म्हणून त्याला मांडीवर घ्या . आजकाल rolling pram पण मिळतात - त्यात music पण असते . बाळ अगदीच तान्हे असेल तर त्याला कॉटन च्या मऊशार दुपट्यात बांधले पाहिजे तर ते लगेच झोपते .

ईशान ची प्रार्थना

आज रात्री ईशान म्हणाला 'mamma मी देवाला प्रार्थना करू?" मी म्हटलं कर की.
देवाजवळ जाऊन त्याने गुरुर्ब्रम्हा श्लोक म्हटला आणि पुढे म्हणाला "देवा मला शक्ती दे, मला बुद्धी दे, मला लवकर मोठ कर, मला मोठ्याने ओरडू देऊ नकोस, मला वाईट शब्द बोलू देऊ नकोस, मला लवकर झोप नको येऊ दे!!!!"

एवढ्या वेळ मी कौतुकाने त्याची प्रार्थना ऐकत होते .. आणि शेवटची request ऐकून मला खूपच हसू आले... मी पण लगेच देवाला प्रार्थना केली "याला दररोज लवकर ९ वाजता झोपू दे" ! :) :)

काल सकाळी आम्ही लेण्याद्री, शिवनेरी आणि ओझर येथे गेलो होतो. सकाळी साडेसहा वाजता घरातून निघालो. ईशान उठला होता आणि घरातून निघताना दूध पिऊन झाले होते. उगवत्या सूर्याचे दर्शन झाले आणि सकाळी निघाल्याचा आनंद झाला. मी ईशान ला सूर्य दाखवला आणि नमस्कार करून ‘चांगली बुद्धी दे’ असं म्हणावयास सांगितले ... ईशान ला पण सूर्य खूप आवडला. त्याने नमस्कार केला आणि म्हणाला ‘ मला चांगली बुद्धी दे, 18 year old बनव’ !!! त्याला लवकरात लवकर 18 वर्षाचे होऊन कार / JCB / Crane इत्यादी चालायचे आहे ! त्यासाठी तो अगदी आतुरतेने वाट बघत आहे!

We had been to spectacular monsoon drive from 11 Jul 2014 to 13 Jul 2014. The drive started from Belgaum and ended with Belgaum on Sunday afternoon. We travelled through entire Goa state and Dandeli Wildlife Sanctury, TilariNagar Dam region etc.

Thursday, May 29, 2014 Ishan describes things very innocently and in very detail right from how the potty is to what shape the clouds are. everything he sees is mapped to something similar and then narrated. e.g. yesterday he smelled something in the home and then said 'this smells like sea'! It has been months since we went to the sea but he still remembers that experience in the brain! ------- Thursday, May 29, 2014 Yesterday IPL Cricket match was being played on the TV. Suddenly Ishan tells me 'Mamma, what is written on your mobile (N8) is written on this player's shirt' then i observed - the player's shirt was indeed displaying Nokia that is my mobile!! Once again he showed his keen observation, though he couldnt read the spelling or knew the word, he could match the words! Simply amazing! and he keeps surprising us with such observation always! :) ------- majhya potat bhiti aali sab log bas jao Mujhko Rokega Kaun Aur Kayko! Ishan says 'mamma tu boy ahes ka?' me: 'nahi, me girl ahe' Ishan: 'mag tu Rokega kashala mhantes? apan boy asal tar 'rokega' mhanayach, tu 'Mujhko Rokegi Kaun Aur Kayko' asa mhan!' ------ Thursday, May 28, 2014 Aashish had ordered Stethoscope for Ishan and it was delivered today. Before it was delivered, when he got up in the morning - Aashish was sleeping besides him, he tried to wake him up saying - 'aashish, to stethoscope kutheparyant aala ahe te bagh na' :D (aashish had told Ishan earlier the status of order - that it was dispatched to Pune city) Ishan is very happy to hung it by neck and call himself doctor! we all felt our own heart bits for the first time :) After some time he says he is a photographer and his name in the Euro school should be changed to "Photographer Aashish Kulkarni Smita" ! Few things that are very close to his heart are - Whiteboard - that is needed in the bedroom while he sleeps, his new cycle gifted by Pradnya, Sony Nex3 Camera and now new Stethoscope. He reckons he is going to be a doctor and check all kids and adults. Then he says is a photographer but stil he would check patients :)

Tuesday, July 1, 2014 Ishan went to school on 30th June (Monday). Teacher asked - "Holiday mein kya kiya? Mamma ne kya kya khana banaya tha?" to this Ishan replied "Dhensu"!! Dhensu is all purpose word. It can be answer to any question these days. When we had gone to vasamt for "Snehal's marriage", I asked Ishan pointing to Devidas kaka - 'do you know which ajoba is this' to this he replies "Dhensu ajoba" :D :D He had spoiled red color yesterday all over the floor from kitchen to dining to hall. When i entered home in the evening i was shocked to see red things on the floor and bad thoughts came to my mind - what has happened and how come nobody called me? Next moment i realized it was color and i was relieved! :) It took half an hour for me to clean the floor and then Ishan! :D :D

Ishan demanded a white board similar to one in the school, so he got the white board, duster and red, green, blue & black marker pens. Now he is so happy and has started teaching all of us. It is mandatory to attend the lessons and follow his instructions else he replies like teacher "Why are you not saying 1,2, 3?? " "Tumko sikhaya hai na" he even gives complements for correct replies!

Now he saw a whileboard having 'black' corners somewhere and has started demanding for this. In addition to this he thinks 'black' duster also needs to be bought else it will be mismatch with the whiteboard (having black corners) So here we are looking for tips of how to convert a normal white board into something as below

can we get only corners in the market? Probably not .. then will repainting work? again probably not!

ईशान साधारण अडीच वर्षाचा असताना बाल्कनीतून एक मोठी कुंडी हलवून घरात आणण्याचा प्रयत्न करत होता. त्याला विचारलं की अरे तू काय करत आहेस तर उत्तर असा आलं - " अरे झाडाला ऊन लागत आहे न म्हणून सावलीत आणत आहे " !! So innocent emotions! I was really touched!

ईशान च whiteboard वर लिहिणे सुरु होते
१,२,३ काढताना ३ चे spring संपताच नव्हते।
मी त्याला ३ कसे काढायचे ते दाखवले। .
Still he was unable to write it correctly. Then he told me "मम्मा अरे मी ३ capital मध्ये लिहितो आहे म्हणून असा आहे !" It was an amusing answer!!

Few days back when we returned from Guajarat Trip, he demanded that Petrol Pump should be bought and kept in the Parking so that he can fill in the Petrol as and when needed!! I actually went to a toy shop and asked for petrol pump toy but its not available .. :( Ishan can identify all the petrol pumps when they are at distant just by looking at their logo.. BHarat Petrol Pump, HP Petrol Pump, Indian Oil etc are all known to him.

Today morning Ishan demanded that I should buy Sugar cane juice machine in the home so that he can produce sugar cane juice!!

Ishan speaks a combination of Marathi-Hindi-English now. Many a times he uses feminine verbs in Hindi e.g. "karati hun", "likhati hun" etc. I correct and tell him the muscular form that he should use "Karta hun", "likhata hun". I told him that boys speak "karata hun" while girls say "karati hun".
these days his school is practicing dance on the song "Lungi dance" for annual function. he has listend to that song atleast a hundred time so far. The other day when I was also enjoying with him the song and was singing I said a line of the song "Rokega mujhko kaun aur kayko"
Immediately he told me "Mamma, are you a boy? No na, then you should say "Rokegi mujhko kaun aur kayko"! If you are a boy only then you should say "Rokega mujhko kaun aur kayko"!! I was completely surprised to see him applying the language rules for the song!

21-Jan-2014 Ishan was playing office-office using a briefcase like folder. I asked him, where is your office, which company? he thinks for few seconds and replies "Bachpan Infosys" :) Bachpan his school name and Infosys my company name! :)
